Barnes & Noble - Lisa Zhito
Every once in a while a project comes along so wholly unlike anything else that's out there, artists jump at the chance to participate. One imagines Child of the Promise was such an endeavor. This CD production of a Broadway-style musical packs some serious star power. Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Michael Crawford, members of Avalon and Anointed, plus David Pack of '70s rock group Ambrosia, '80s rocker Richard Marx, and former disco diva Donna Summer are just a few of the illustrious participants in this original production written by the esteemed team of Michael and Stormie Omartian. But Child of the Promise rightfully belongs to Russ Taff, who as the Angel Gabriel uses his commanding voice to bring passion and authority to his role. Another revelation is Summer, who as Elizabeth shows a tender and emotive quality that her "Bad Girls" days never displayed. Crystal Lewis plays Mary, Steven Curtis Chapman is Joseph, and Michael W. Smith, Gary Chapman, Wayne Watson and Bob Carlisle appear as a quartet of wacky shepherds who bring a bit of comic relief to the proceedings. It's fun to hear these artists perform Broadway-style numbers. Child of the Promise takes a fresh idea and turns it into a memorable album that could easily become a Christmas standard for years to come.

    Magnificent!

Child of the Promise on CD offers a refreshing experience as the nativity story unfolds. What a cast! Wish it was on video.

A Masterpiece That Transforms the Heart!

My experience of Child of the Promise was so moving and transformative that I immediately went out and bought copies of the album for three other people! The multi-faceted personalities and the joys and struggles of the people I've encountered for years in the Christmas stories came to life in such a new and multi-dimensional way in this musical production that I could not help but re-visit the power and love of God in my own life story where Zechariah, Elizabeth, Joseph and Mary reside. Living out our yes to Godis not easy, but it is oh-so-worth it! I cannot imagine that any listener would leave his/her experience of Child of the Promise uninspired or un-transformed. Child of the Promise is a MUST! Thank you to its creators!
