This book explores many different reasons people have children and many reasons why people choose a childfree life. The idea of the decision being logical 'having the human ability to choose' vs. emotional 'with animalistic instinct' was interesting to me, and so was the chapter on 'Honest Parents' who freely admitted the many problems and unforeseen circumstances they experienced in bearing and raising a child, ultimately deciding that if given a choice, they never would have had children. The author does a great job uncovering many things not usually discussed for fear of disturbing the social norm of 'everyone must love children.' Thinking of staying childfree? Then this is a must-read.

In Childfree & Loving It, Nicki Defago gently and honestly dives into the stigma and issues facing the childfree (i.e. by choice). Included throughout the novel are hundreds of insightful excerpts from interviews of parents and childfree alike, as well as positive stories of childfree people from an array of individuals. Throughout the novel flows an enriching and avid discussion of issues pertaining to the childfree choice like the environment & population, work & childcare, parent propaganda, consumerism, etc. To add icing to the cake, there are wonderful quotes at the beginning of each chapter and stories from many places around the world. The childfree author excitedly affirms the childfree while still gently respecting those who made the choice to have children as well. This novel is well worth your time if you are childfree and loving it!
