doesn't show any illustrations on Nook (1st edition) and PC Nook app

My main reason to buy this book apart from great set of classic stories was color illustrations. As always, first I have checked if it would work on 1st gen Nook and PC. After downloading I found out that there are just huge blank spaces supposedly where illustrations should be. Neither Nook nor my notebook can show them. Even worse - big blank spaces with couple of words per two-page view make it impossible to read even for me, not even mentioning my little reader who simply ignores this book now. Sorry...

    Squirrels & Robin

A pair of squirrels stood beside a bush, chattering angrily about stolen nuts. Farther behind them, a robin stood at the ground, fluffing its feathers and cracking a snail.
