Overview

Naxos' Chill with Rachmaninoff presents 12 of the composer's most relaxing compositions, including "Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor: Adagio Sostenuto," "Morceaux de Salon, Op. 10: Barcarolle in G Minor," "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini: Variation 18," and "Vocalise in E Minor, Op. 34, No. 14." While the album's concept is simple, it features a good sampling from Rachmaninov's major works and alternates between large and small-scale compositions, all of which give the album an unexpected amount of depth and diversity. "Sonata in G Minor for Cello and Piano, Op. 19: Andante" and "Mélodie in E, Op. 3, No. 3" are among the other highlights of this collection. It may not be the only Rachmaninov collection you'll ever need, but Chill with Rachmaninoff is still a pleasant and soothing one to have around.
