Overview

Jack, Marquess of Ettington, is at his wits end dealing with his twin sister's distress. Under her name, he's summoned Constance Grange, his vexing former ward, to London to act as his sister's companion for the season. Although Pixie's debt-ridden state comes as a complete surprise, what disturbs him more is his sister's plan to find her a wealthy husband to pay off her overwhelming debts. And--despite his availability, wealth and title--he's shocked to be overlooked for the position of Pixie's husband.

With a nickname like Pixie, Constance Grange should be used to disasters, but debt collectors pounding on the Marquess of Ettington's door demanding payment is beyond mortifying. Given the precarious state of her finances and the previously unknown loss of her family estate, her choices are either incarceration in debtors' prison or turning fortune hunter to secure a wealthy husband. Yet the man that comes to her rescue more times than she cares to think about is unavailable, betrothed, and her former guardian Jack--the cold-hearted marquess.

A regency historical romance novel.

This book had some amazing potential to be a fantastic romance novel it just seemed to drag a little too much through the middle of the book. I even ended up kind of skimming through a handful of chapters. The love between the two main characters was excessively slow to come about and once it did they both just skirted around the issue, which I find annoying. He feels he is showing her that he loves her and she thinks he wants only one thing from her. Many secrets have been kept from everyone involved in this story and as they are hinted at it becomes pretty fustrating because you just waiting them to spill the beans. On top of the two main characters there are several other characters whose relationship blooms, which I get but I would prefer for the two to have had their own story. I do have to admit I did find myself giggling at some of the antics of the characters. I absolutely loved the way Jack was always there for Constance and how he would do anything in his power for her to be safe. If you are looking for a sweet slow read then I would recommend this book.

I didn't expect to enjoy this book half as much as I did; however, after reading this book, I had to buy the rest of the series.  I'm not sorry I did.  Absolutely excellent.

The characters were wonderful and had makings of a good read. But the book dragged on unnecessarily and where the author could have build on she did not. It was lame, disjointed and the main characters didn't grow. Just one stupi ball after another.

Exquisitely paced so the Regency manners of the relationships seems true to period. Loved the characters!

I loved this book and it's characters. All of the people in the story made it such an entertaining plot. Especially the hateful and snotty women of the ton. So much fun to read.

Slow moving , long drawn, convoluted storyline involving characters that form the plot line for other books. All this is so predictable it's laugh worthy. The first half of the book has no sex- they get close but nothing. Then there's sex at every level; as though the author suddenly realized that it would help sell books. I've given myself permission to occasionally READ trash but I won't insult myself by PAYING for it.

Great story about family, both good and evil. Up and downs of lust and love. Little bit racey. Very good read. Decent length. Think I will buy the series.

First, there needs to be better proofreading, b/c irreguardless is not a word, and there were several other issues. Overall, I did enjoy the book.

Wow. 253 pages of love, humor and a misunderstandings. The only thing that would have added to this story is the gambling mother having more of a presence.
