A Must Buy if You Are Traveling to China

I made use out of this book during my time living in Beijing. Compared to many others on the market, this one is truly one of the best. A phrasebook is especially needed for for a traveler to China with limited knowledge. Make sure whatever phrasebook you get has the Chinese Characters because most cannot read the PinYin (some phrasebooks do not have this feature). This is a small pocket-size book with a durable cover to prevent it from damage. The only word that should be added is ¿subway station¿ and possibly a few phrases in regards to subway travel.

    a Life Saver

This little phrasebook was my salvation many many times while I lived in China. It not only shows words in PinYin so that you could pronounce them but also shows words and phrases in chinese characters so you can at least point at what you need. There was everthing from food, to things you might need to say at a hospital (this one saved me) or at a barber shop (also saving me!) and any other daily situation you may find yourself in. Plus there is helpul info about how to pronounce the sounds and tones in Mandarin and a short lesson on grammar in case you want to try to make some sentences of your own. I knew NO chinese when I first arrived and this book was all I needed.
