This a collection of authentic Chinese recipies. I made most of the recipes in this book and they are wonderful. There are great photos of all the dishes and the recipes are easy to follow and complete. The only problems people might encounter is the ingredients. You must have an asian market close by to find some of the items. Be forwarned these recipes are not the Chinese-American dishes most americans are familiar with, no General Tso's or sesame chicken here. If you want to try the real deal buy this book.

As a second generation Chinese American (really Taiwanese American!) in her 20s , this book has helped me so many times, providing many recipes with ingredients I regularly have stocked in my kitchen. My husband likes the dishes too, and we both grew on up 'mom's traditional home cooking'.

Let put it this way, this is the only chinese cookbook that I go back into when I'm in the mood of simple and delicious chinese cuisine.

At first sight, I was worried that it might be too authentic and I would not be able to find the ingredients in a small town. I brought the book to a small international food store, and ... 5 minutes later, I found everything that I needed. Some of the recipes are elaborate compared to others but the results are always excellent. A good investment for a recipe book.
