Meet the Author

Konami Kanata (pen name used by Kanata Konami) was born on July 3, 1958, in Nagano, Japan.  A veteran manga artist Konami made her professional debut in 1982 with the serialized comic Petit Cat Jam-Jam for Kodansha's semenal shoujo manga magazine NakaYoshi. The daughter of an elementary school teacher, most of Konami's stories are for readers of all ages making her one of the most accessible artists in recent history.

In her nearly thirty year career, Konami has penned more than a dozen comic series, with the majority of them focusing on cats and pets. Konami is well regarded within the pet-manga community for her keen sense of cat ecology. Her ability to observe and render feline behavior has earned her respect from the Japanese manga community as a whole. While most of her properties were published for a younger female demographic, her most recent series Chi's Sweet Home is currently being published by Kodansha's Morning magazine, Japan's leading comic magazine for adult readers.

Proving that quality can be found even in the cutest of sources.
Chi's Sweet Home will be Konami's first translated work.

    my favorite book :D

this is a book that entertains me in the most strangest ways. unlike most mangas, that make me wonder what will happen, this manga is full of cuteness and adventure. the cat will sure pull you in as she makes all sorts of funny and cute expressions and thoughts to keep your nose in it.

Chi is a "newborn" kitten who gets lost in the big, scary world. She is rescued by the Yamada family, who aren't allowed to have cats in their apartment. They search in vain for someone to adopt her, but eventually they fall in love with with Chi and decide to keep her. Chi's thoughts, dreams, and fears are all displayed with adorable big-eyed drawings. I'd read this book within an hour of its arrival on my doorstep. I was sucked right in to Chi's story because she reminds me so much of my own rescued kitten (both in appearance and attitude). Even if my nephew doesn't ever read this book, I'm SO glad I discovered it. :D

    more from this reviewer

    I love this manga!

I'm one those readers who adore stories about animals. Chio is so cute and mischievous that I found it endearing. While the reader gets chis viewpoint there is the realities of a kitten rescue. The first volume hooked me so much that I now own all seven paperback volumes currenetly available in my area. I'm keeping a watch for volume eight. Also this manga is in color. A fact that wowed a coworker who was convinced that all manga is black and white format only.

Highly Recommended! Great for all ages!

This manga is great for everyone! It tells a light-hearted story about a lost little kitten, adopted by a small family and the adventures and troubles that ensue! ANYONE can enjoy this. I lent my copy five other people; all with comic book tastes across the spectrum, and every one of them loved it. Every page brought a smile to their face; and I hope it does for you too!
