Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
K-Gr 2 In three brief stories, Chloe and Maude experience the vicissitudes of friendship, bringing to mind such staples of the genre as Marshall's ``George and Martha'' series (Houghton) and Lobel's ``Frog and Toad'' (Harper). Steady, resourceful Chloe resolves Maude's bouts with ego problems and, in an overnight visit, an imagined menace on the bedroom ceiling. Young readers will probably find Maude's problems familiar ones; given a little help with a few exotic words, many will be able to read the book independently. Adults may recognize the neckless kitty figures of Chloe and Maude as kissing cousins of the droll little animals in Boynton's greeting card line. Despite their squat proportions, they have made the leap from card to book with considerable success. Janet French, Centennial School District Libraries, Warminster, Pa.

    Four Kids' Favorite

I read this book to all four of my kids over a period of more than 15 years. They all loved it. Probably all of them still do. We wish Boynton would allow a reprint.

    Chloe and Maude, come back!!!

I loved Chloe and Maude as a child also. My sister and I still refer to them from time to time. I even saved some pajamas that have Chloe and Maude on the front. Sandra Boyton should definitely bring the boys back. They would make any child happy!!!

    Best kids book ever

Chloe and Maude was my favorite childrens book of all time, and it's sad that it was never more popular than it was. Even sadder still is the fact that it's not even available anymore. It's a classic...definitely a classic....
