Overview

Beck Phillips has spent his time since the dragon pillage of Kingsplot inflating a huge weather balloon inside a tiny building, exploring all the forbidden rooms in the manor, and showing his natural propensity to act first and think later.

But, he is a Pillage and dragons are part of his heritage. Try as he might, he can't ignore their obvious lure. Confronted with conflicting stories from adults who claim to know what's best for him, Beck retrieves the last dragon egg in existence and takes it to a mountainside cave to hatch.

Kate should be jealous when Beck becomes too attached to the dragon queen Lizzy, yet she too is irresistibly drawn in. When Lizzy starts her own rampage, Beck realizes he can't let the devastation happen again. Will he, once and for all, be able to change the course of events his family curse has destined for him?

In this exhilarating sequel to Pillage, Beck must use his natural ingenuity to sort out who can be trusted and who can't, before it's too late.

“You didn’t mean to what?” he asked sternly, towering over me, the ends of his long nightshirt billowing lightly. “You didn’t mean to find the stone among the millions of stones?”

“Well . . .”

“You didn’t mean to then plant the stone?” he continued, not even giving me a second to even answer.

“I . . .”

“It was by mistake that you harvested it?” he said scornfully. “And then, quite by accident, that you raised it and then let it loose?”

“Well, when you put it that way, it does sort of make me look bad.”

My dad massaged his forehead as if there were a tattoo there he was hoping to rub off.

“Beck,” he sighed.

“Dad,” I said manipulatively.

“This is on your head,” he whispered. “What the queen pillages will be the work of her talons and your hands.”

First of all, I recommend this book to anyone who has dillengce (because it takes a while to get started), loves sarcasm, and loves a great plot. As much as I hate it, I must start with the bad part and get it out of the way. There is only one reason that I cannot give this book five stars. It took Obert Skye roughly, give or take a few pages, 170 pages to get the book started. I wish I had finished this book earlier than I did but the first half of the book was barely enough to keep me going. I mean it took me a few months to finish this. Part of that is because I had a defective copy the first time but even after that. I mean, half the reason why I continued to pick this book up was so I could write a review on it. Now, the bad part is done. Here's the good. After I hit (roughly) page 170, I did not want to put the book down. I would have finished it a day earlier if I had been allowed to stay up a bit later. Finished it right before school in the morning. It was amazing! Through out most of the book you're going okay, Beck can't trust them. Then you get to the end and you're going, "okay" and then you go "no!" because you're allowed just enough time for your opion to change. Then you find that it shouldn't have changed. You just don't know who to trust anymore. There was a very surprising ending and I can't wait to see what Skye comes up with next. I really do hope he writes a third book to this series. It just wouldn't be complete without a third and final book.

Im 11 and something about this book just draws me in to reading it. When you flip the page a new excitement occurs. Obert Skye uses the best words in it, you know just what is happening. You will make friends with the characters right when you open the book. You will also fall in love with the dragons at first. When I finish the whole series I will be bursting in tears that there is not another book! READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was 9 or 10 years old when I first read this book it is unbeliveable I personaly feal that beck and kathrine had more passion for lizzy then they did for any of the other dragons from pillage. I also wonder when the next book obert writes will come out and what will happen with the king dragon. we all wonder sometimes about books but these books set me off on a dragon book spree i have read sinse then dragon slpiiers, dragon flight, dragon spear, eragon, eldest, brsinger and other books. cant wait for number 3!
