Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 10 Up-With all of the talk of bioterrorism and weapons of mass destruction, diseases seem to be foremost on people's minds, especially those of publishers. These books examine the history, causes, symptoms, epidemics, and treatments of their respective diseases. The information is carefully documented. Cholera is better suited for advanced biology students than for teens doing simple research on the topic as it is written like a college textbook, delving into the virulence and the genome of Vibrio cholerae. It will prove daunting for most high school students. Anthrax is written in a more user-friendly fashion. There is a pronunciation guide for difficult words, and researchers will find the information more understandable. Advanced students will still be able to use the book, but it is more accessible to a wider audience than Cholera. Both volumes have full-color photos and reproductions of X rays and micrographs, charts, diagrams, and other useful visuals.-Lynn Evarts, Sauk Prairie High School, Prairie du Sac, WI Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
