In this fourth book, Alexander is still on the look-out for monsters. Now he thinks they're at school.... The lunch menu is NOT normal -- instead of good-for-you meals, there's ice cream and pie every day. His whole class is crying. And his friend Rip goes missing. Alexander must battle giant meat-eating vegetables before the whole town becomes veggie dinner! Filled with humor, suspense, and zany black-and-white illustrations, this book will keep kids turning the pages!

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Praise for THE NOTEBOOK OF DOOM #1: RISE OF THE BALLOON GOONS
"Cranking up the horrorlarity with googly eyed cartoon figures and sight gags on nearly every page, Cummings pitches his nervous but resourceful newcomer into a climactic, all-out battle with an entire army of aggressive, air-stealing bendy balloons." -KIRKUS REVIEWS

Praise for THE EENSY WEENSY SPIDER FREAKS OUT!
"Clever text full of witty asides." -SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL

Praise for MORE BEARS!
"[Artwork that is] infused with zaniness of fun." -SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL

Children's Literature - Phyllis Kennemer
Alexander hates school lunches. He rates chicken nuggets with one star, chef’s choice gets zero stars, and taco surprise receives two negative stars. He is pleased that his dad has decided to make him healthy lunches to eat instead. But strange things are happening when he arrives at school. The building is extremely cold; everyone is crying; and a strange nurse is working in the clinic. Alexander, Nikki, and Rip Bonkowski are sure monsters are about. An unfamiliar cook erases the usual lunch menu and serves only ice cream and pie. Turns out, the vegetables are taking over the school. Their goal is to fatten up the students before they eat them and to feast on the parents during the chili supper fundraiser. It seems they will stop at nothing—until Rip brings in a secret weapon, his pet gopher Stella, who begins her feast with a bright red radish. The frightened vegetables run away so quickly they forget about the large, spinning windmill just outside the door. Emerging readers will enjoy the nonstop action. Black and white illustrations fill the pages with cartoon like fun. Part of the “Notebook of Doom” series. Reviewer: Phyllis Kennemer, Ph.D.; Ages 6 to 9.
