This is the story of Perry Taylor, a boy of the Dinotopian village Greenglen, who comes across an alone Giganotosaurus hatchling while exploring near the Rainy Basin. He immediately takes him in and cares for him, during which the carnivore grows and begins to create problems for the people of his home and town. Pitted between keeping his close companion or returning him to the Rainy Basin where he belongs, Perry and Chomper must obtain the courage together to do what is best. This book is among the best I have ever read. It is an ideal tale for readers to be introduced to the series or for nostalgic fans to return to the world of Dinotopia. It is truly a heartwarming story of triumph and friendship that will remain with you long after you have finished reading it.
