Change-management advisor Berg helps readers choose long-term goals and set action steps for who they want to be, where they want to be, and with whom they want to be. Clear ideas for planning and implementing objectives are presented in a fun, accessible format. The book's real selling point is what Berg has dubbed "The Resource Center," the final 30 pages that contain quizzes, strategies, résumé tips, and self-assessment tools. What People are Saying About This

As a parent, teacher, and university administrator, I have had a great deal of experience with students preparing to make the transition to their adult lives. Susan Bergs Choose on Purpose is the best guide I have read for young men and women who are trying to address the many important questions they face. The topics are arranged in a strong, logical pathway, and the tool kit offers a hands-on opportunity to define personal priorities. The book is written in a vigorous, crystal clear and consistently engaging style. This is the book I will recommend to students, recent graduates, and other young people who are setting out to shape their futures. --Peter Conn, PhD, Professor and former Dean, University of Pennsylvania

Meet the Author

Call her a transition expert. An award-winning international speaker, facilitator, and now author of the book Choose on Purpose for Twentysomethings, Susan Berg brings real-world experience and solutions to the issues facing young people today. The same career-long focus on mastering change that has won praise from Fortune 500 giants and renowned humanitarian non-profits alike, is now helping to guide twentysomethings through the minefield of early adulthood.

Berg earned her Ph.D. in Adult Education and Development from UCLA, a Masters degree from Northwestern University, and a B.A. cum laude from Miami University in Ohio. Initially an educator and school administrator in California and Texas, she honed her focus on designing strategic change projects, and facilitating leadership, strategic vision, and creative improvement programs. Those skills transferred perfectly to her more than ten years at Unisys Corporation, where she was awarded the prestigious Chairman's Innovation Award for designing programs for the 21st-century workplace.

Susan Berg is Managing Partner and Founder of Compass Associates, a practical consulting firm specializing in making projects happen in the face of disputes, "un-clarity," and confusion. From corporate CEOs to college grads, her unique blend of inspired creativity and step-by-step goal-getting has proven itself to be indispensible in these chaotic times.

Susan Berg is also the founder of the Choose On Purpose Institute, an organization dedicated to promoting life solutions for twentysomethings. That huge demographic of young people faces a unique set of challenges brought on by both their own mindsets and by a rapidly changingworld. Too often, they stall in their development throughout their twenties and even early thirties. Berg's early research found lots of career guidance for twentysomethings, but it was too old school and unfocused. What was needed was a fresh look at the needs of twentysomethings, starting with choice-making skills and coping strategies, but also including a great, big reality check.

Choose On Purpose for Twentysomethings: Finding Work You Love, Places to Grow, People Who Care does all that and more. This new book gives twentysomethings a direct, uncomplicated way to launch their lives and their careers. Using a friendly, coffee shop chat approach, it helps readers get off the computer and into the wider world by emphasizing relationships and a knowledge base that supports life-shaping choices. For millions of young people, it may be just what's needed to walk confidently into full-blown adulthood.

The author is joined in her work with Twentysomethings by her daughter, Kirstin Berg, a twentysomething herself who brings an "in the trenches" perspective to Choose On Purpose. Kirstin leads a cadre of her peers as both participants in the ongoing study of twentysomethings, and as mentors lending support and guidance through the Choose On Purpose Institute.
