    Inspiring and delightful

I first heard the recording of Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" at Christmas time on a classical station in Boston. My husband and I were enthralled...
After searching on the internet, I discovered that it was Randall Thompson's composition - music from "Frostiana" that so delighted us! There are many of Frost's poems set to music on this recording and all are beautiful!
It has become one of our favorite recordings!

A trye pleasure to listen to over and over

To say I like this album would be a gross understatement. It starts off with a "bang" with a powerful "Last Words of David" and ends with his Alleluia. Hearing "Last Words," "Choose Something Like a Star" and "Paper Reeds by the Brook" beought back memories, since I sang these in choir when I was in high school and later college.

Acoustically speaking, there is a good bit of reverberation throughout, which I think heightens the beauty of the overall sound.

This is the first album I have run into of Randall Thompson's choral music, and I don't think anyone would go far wrong by purchscing this album. I highly recommend.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and orchestra sound very nice throughout. In fact it is one of the best-sung albums by the choir in my recent momoory. Again, MUCH to recommend!!

    A reviewer

The music collected on this album are the finest examples of Thompson's work. The only piece that is painfully lacking is testament of freedom. The performances are masterful and precise. My only complaint, which is why I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars is that there is an extreme amount of reverb on this recording, so much so that I found myself at times distracted by the copious amount of echo. Otherwise, I couldn't recommend this recording more strongly of one of our greatest American composers
