Overview

Choosing Christmas can be read as a standalone or as a complement to the Piper Anderson Series.

All Chris wants is a normal Christmas. He’s spent his life dodging the police and trying to protect his son from the life he’s caught up in. He’s just returned from killing a killer and he swears it's his last act as a criminal. That is until his boss, the sexy blonde who is too uptight for her own good, ends up in a compromising position.

Sydney Collingsworth doesn't celebrate Christmas. She doesn't celebrate anything anymore. Unless you count a bottle of champagne every time she breaks up with another deadbeat boyfriend.

Will these two opposites fall under the spell of the holidays long enough to realize they’re perfect for each other or will each of their pasts catch up with them before they get the chance?

Choosing Christmas is a great story. It picks up where Chris and Sydney's story ended in Cutting Ties, Book 2 of the Piper Anderson Series, and lets the readers finally know what happened with these fantastic characters. I have loved Chris since book 1 so I was thrilled to see him and his son find a happy ending...or as Piper says, "a happy beginning".

One of the first things I noticed when I read the synopsis was that it states that this could be read as a standalone or as a complement to the series so I made sure to pay attention to see if this was true. I would say I did this to help people reading my review but in truth it is just because I'm anal. So, to answer the question...yes, it really does work well as a standalone story. It gives you the background on the characters without it being redundant information for fans of the series and tells a complete story of love, hope, family, and Christmas in less than 100 pages. I loved it!!!

However, I do recommend the series. It is one of my favorites, if not my favorite, in this genre. If you haven't read the Piper Anderson series I would love for you to give it a chance. It is really, really great and book 1, Chasing Justice is FREE.

So, to summarize...Choosing Christmas is a perfect warm fuzzy holiday story to get you in the spirit of Christmas. It has romance, a little bit of suspense, and a big dose of joy.  Oh! Did I forget to mention the cover? Isn't it pretty?! Yes! Yes, it is. It was designed by yours truly and I smile every time I look at it.

HOW DO YOU DO IT DANIELLE?? I'm in love with Choosing Christmas! Yet another knock out of the ball park! The story is truly believable and now I'm also SO in love with Chris and Sydney!! This story is ABSOLUTELY amazing. Those that wanted more of Chris are going to fall SO in love with him.

The story was fantastic and real. I also fell in love with Sydney. When we were first introduced to her she was a b**ch and you get to see what makes her who she is and then get to know her soft side. Danielle, you are a brilliant writer!! The way you write your stories is pure magic. I fall in love with your stories and that is hard for me as I'm picky but girl you just NAIL IT EVERY TIME! When I can't imagine loving characters or stories more than your previous books, you surprise me, my heart opens up with love more! Astounds me how you do it but you do. Your writing brings these characters and stories to life for me. I can't gush enough about your work. Congrats. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ALL <3

    I love Chris :)

And I loved this novella. From bad guy in book 1 to good guy. Chris definitely has a shady past but is working to right the wrongs in his life. Enter Sydney. They make a cute pair. Throw in Little Chris and you have an adorable little family. I'm glad he got his Happily Ever After.

    The Piper's poem

Little children come to my cave, with me you will be able to play. Little children come with me, safe and happy you will be away from home now let us run. With Me here we will have so much fun. Little children please don cry, i would never even hurt a fly. Little children you cannot leave, for you your families will grieve. Their minds unraveling at the scene, allowing me to haunt ther dreams. Little children you were not clever, now you will stay with me, forever...

I really enjoyed this book. The chemistry between the two characters is spot on. The author does an amazing job at creating a relationship that should be destined to fail, but might just work out. It was a lovely holiday romance that I highly recommend. I honestly couldn't put it down and read the entire book this evening. If you want a heartwarming holiday romance, read this book!
