This book hasn't even come out yet and I already know I'm going to love it! Just by the first line, "I have no idea why I'm doing this, but I know I need to be doing it for some reason.", I can tell it's going to be amazing.

Most Enjoyable Memoir

David's memoir is a very enjoyable read. It's inspiring and touching. He is wise beyond his 19 years. He gives a wonderful insight into his musical background and how he overcome many obstacles to begin to live his dream of singing and sharing that passion with others. He gives an open and honest insight into the American Idol experience and shows how he made a difficult and unique experience into something positive and educational.

An engaging, personal story that's a joy to read!

David Archuleta is a very special young man, and although he is still very young, his story pulled me into the book from the moment I began to read it. The book is inspiring, encouraging, and engaging. I read the entire book in one night, and read it again the next day to make sure I had not missed anything! He made it clear that his goal in writing the book was to inspire and encourage others, and he has certainly succeeded!

So young to be so wise.

David not only has a beautiful voice but a beautiful soul. This book feels like David is talking directly to you. He talks of facing his personal struggles and pushing past his fears to encourage readers to do the same. If you loved David on American Idol, you will want to read this book. It is a fun, often funny, always touching personal look into an amazing young man. I loved it.

A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

This book is an easy and yet inspiring read! I gobbled it up, inspired by David's experiences and rambling thoughts. As a big fan of David's,I already knew a lot about him, but to learn about how he struggled with his insecurities and how he overcame them to achieve his dream of singing is wonderful. Not to mention the fact that he had vocal paralysis that he thought would keep him from his dream forever! Everyone has insecurities, but not everyone is brave enough to meet them head on. David's strong faith and unconditional support and love from his family and friends have come together to bring us the gift of a lovely person, willing to open his heart and soul and share with us, just because he wants to help someone. Read it. You won't regret it. It's time well-spent! I bought a copy for each of my children, knowing that David has just the right way of assuring them that they do matter, and they do have something to offer! Congratulations David, on a best seller!

Not Just For Teens

First of all, let me preface this by saying that I am NOT a tween girl. I'm a 36 y/o mother of three boys. So, why would I read a memoir of a 19 y/o guy? David Archuleta may be young, but he has been through more and has experienced more in his short life than most people experience their entire life. This memoir is filled with inspiration and examples of overcoming obstacles. David writes about dealing with his insecurities, facing them head-on, and coming through the other side a little more secure. He's in no way arrogant though. He's the most mature, wise, humble, and grateful celebrity I've ever met. He's nothing like most of the celebrities in the industry right now. I was shocked to learn about the extent of his own insecurities and about how he didn't want the fame--he merely wanted to sing. He is the example by which all celebrities should try to model. This is not just another teen book. This is a book about overcoming obstacles, doing what you love, and staying true to who you are and to your faith. I highly recommend this book for people of all ages who may be looking for a little inspiration and light in their lives.

Chords of Strength...David Archuleta

David's book "Chords of Strength" was such an amazing book! David was as inspiring in his book as he is in person. This young man has so much to give to the world. I hope that the reader understands "goodness" when they see it and hear about it! David is so humble, unselfish and caring.
His heart shines through this book and really inspires the reader with thoughtful commentary on the obstacles that he has had to overcome in his life. Each page contains a wealth of information and inspiration as he honestly shares with us about his younger life, obstacles he faced, who he is and where he draws his strength. Reading David's book, was like savoring a fine dessert! I just did not want it to end, because I was getting so much pleasure from savoring it it small bites. I have started reading it for a second time...taking notes. I would recommend this book to absolutely anyone and everyone.
I am a grammy, and find that David is a role model for me as well. Anyone who reads this will take somethng away from it to improve their lives!!! David has this influence on people without even trying. David is just being himself....always admitting his flaws, and very very humble about his strengths. This young man has much to offer this world...not only his beautiful voice, but his deep caring heart and soul that guides him in his life!!! A wonderful book!!!! A must have for your library!!! Buy one for yourself, and one to gift to someone else. "His goodness" should be shared...everyone should know about David.

David Archuleta's book is quite touching and inspiring...

I recommend this book. David might be young, but he's seen and done alot in 19 short years. He writes very personally, as if he were talking to a good friend in the room. His intention was to show fans a bit of why he is who he is. To that end, David gives a brief history of how he became involved in music, what his life was like before American Idol, a little behind-the-scenes info from when he was on the show, and how his life has changed since then. He tells a bit about his personal and physical struggles, and how he's been able to overcome the obstacles. Anyone who's a fan will love this book, and anyone who's not a fan will fall in love with David.

It made me cry

An old soul!

David has a lot of wisdom and insight that surpasses his age! His book is so inspiring and uplifting, and written with an open heart. Anyone of any age can enjoy and benefit from his story.

Such inspiration from one man! Definitely worth it.

So I'm probably not the only girl who listens to his music, feels connection and the meaning in his songs and took the honor of reading his memoir, but I do have to say he is an inspiration of mine now and this book has helped me find a bit more about who I am. Great read for people of any perspective:)

I thought this book was amazing becauase it teaches that we should never give up on our dreams and to always believe in ourselves. I loved this book because its about the best singer there is. David Archuleta talks how he overcame different struggling difficulties that he passed in his life. He has had more achievements than i will ever have because he fights for what he wants. This book will probably be the best book i probably will ever read. Im glad this book was written about the best person ever!!!!!

David was as inspiring in his book as he is in person. He has so much to give to the world. David is so humble, unselfish and caring; he wants the best for his friends, fans and family. This memoir is filled with inspiration and examples of overcoming obstacles. He felt very insecure about his voice before American Idol; David found out early in his Hollywood career that he has "vocal paralysis". It would require a high risk surgery that would permanently damage his singing ability. He chose not to get the surgery because of his love to sing. His vocal paralysis did not stop him from doing what he loved to do and was able to continue with his Hollywood dreams. Even though David did not win American Idol, it taught him a lot about perseverance and how important it is to share his gift with others. He believes that when you are given a gift that you need to share it with others; he believes he was given this gift for a reason. David opens up about the strength he draws from his unshakable faith and unyielding family. He pays tribute to those who continue to inspire him and through their example help him believe in himself, his talent, and his abilities. He dedicates his book to anyone who believes in the power of a dream and the possibilities it gives to them, which is exactly what he tries to show through his life's journey.
