The supernatural, paranormal, science fiction, suspense, thriller, romance, drama. Yes, Chosen has a bit of everything mixed together to give readers a rather unique, engrossing and exhausting read. Please note that I mean exhausting in a good read. The story of Mariah and everything that she endures and goes through hooked me from the beginning to the end. Once I began reading, I felt as though I was living within Mariah's shoes and experiencing the emotions and physical changes that she was going through. This is what I meant from exhausting - this woman goes through the unimaginable and the story covers about a year's worth of time. It all begins when Mariah, tired of life and dealing with heartbreak and the emotional trials that she has to endure, she decides to end her life. Downing a bag of M&Ms with a chaser of sleeping pills, Mariah snuggles in bed, awaiting the bliss of eternal darkness. Instead, she receives a visitation from a strange, yet compassionate man. This visitation changes every aspect of her life. Suddenly, Mariah experiences visions and the ability to locate missing children. As the "Findings" become more prominent, it is thought that Mariah has been touched by God, himself, a messenger to help save the innocent children. A miracle or a curse? Goodness or evil? As time goes on, questions of why and where these talents are coming from becoming increasingly powerful and urgent. Mariah experiences healings, satisfaction, moral turmoil, and a myriad of physical and emotional changes. Through it all, a once self-conscience woman who hid within a shell as much as possible, blossoms and grows. She experiences love, self-confidence and close friendships, as well as the frustration of having to go into hiding and seclusion for her own safety and the safety of her friends and family. Throughout Chosen, readers will experience innumerable experiences and dimensions of a wonderful story. I greatly enjoyed the story, itself, as well as the characters. My favorites being Mariah, her close friend Frannie and Michael. They truly brought the story to life. In Chosen, Paula Bradley weaves a story that will leave readers wondering, in awe and constantly reassessing. I do have to mention that there were a few times that the story felt a bit choppy. Not overly so, but a couple of times when scenes/time changed, I felt a bit confused. This did not happen often, but would interrupt the flow of the story. However, with that being said, it did not take away from the story itself and the overall "feelings" that the story encouraged within as I read. Chosen is the first in the Line of Descent series. The next is titled Prophecy, which will release soon, and concludes with Revelation. Questions will be answered, twists and turns and thought-provoking wonders will overcome and readers will be held captive until the very end! Personally, I can't wait! Paula Bradley shows an amazing talent as a crafter of mind-staying tales and she is sure to become a name known by many.

I wasn't bothered by the religious undertones, or the fact that the character believes that she has had a divine intervention of some kind. I could appreciate her using her talents to help these children, and I only wish that there could be someone out there that really could be an angel, as the kids believe her to be in the book. Her character was very interesting and her family dynamics and relationships were relatable and heartbreaking at times. I read the first three quarters of the book in one sitting and then things started to go a little off the deep end for me. From the author's teaser at the end I am hoping that the next book of the series might have a better explanation for certain events and story lines.

This book was a thrill ride from the beginning to the end. You are taken on a journey of revelation and acceptance, where the main character must decide whether the supernatural gifts that she has are a blessing or a curse and what she will do with these gifts. Also, through the use of her gifts she is taken on a journey herself in self-belief as well as to the brink of her abilities in her obsession to find a serial killer.
Doesn't this sound already like an exciting book, it is! You will be amazed at how quickly you will get through this book, and I already know that for me this will not be the last book I read of this author!
Well written and full of great characters, this book is definitely one that I would place on your must read list!

I decided to give up on this book because of the offensive language. I'll tolerate a little of that, but this was too much! Especially since it had so many religious undertones, I expected better.

Somewhere in the middle, it seemed as if a new author took over. Interesting moments were entirely skipped and mentioned only like after thoughts. Then it just got plain weird. Sometimes I had to make sure I was still on the same book. A new chapter would start with new characters and no real sense of whether it would fit together with the main story. I was ready for this one to be over with, but I kept on since I had already read so much.

This book was well written and held my attention from the first page to the last page; every page kept me wanting to read more.
The only thing that I really didn't enjoy about this book was that in the last third or so of the book, the story evolved into what I would call a sci-fi story involving what may be aliens. I really don't enjoy sci-fi, so I doubt that I will read the rest of the books in the series. I enjoyed every minute reading this book, though.

This was an entertaining and thought provoking story. Left me wanting more. The alien aspect was introduced in the middle of the book and that aspect got really confusing towards the end. All in all this book captured and kept my interest. When will book two in this series be ready?

Loved this book..was not sure in the beginning but loved the twist that brought it to a nice sci-fi story.....thought the ending alittle abrupt but will look for the next installment to see what happens next.

Was hooked and enthralled from page one. This writer has a great imagination. Not sure what some of the bad reviews are all about. Interesting plot, realistic characters, action packed drama filled scenes, and wonderful depth into the eyes of a psychotic killer. Cannot wait for book two!

I am all for Christian Fiction, but I could NOT get in to this book. It jumps right in to her "power" without much introduction or explanation... not a very good read.
