Chowhound's Guide is a tremendous resource for everything from upscale to hole-in-the-wall restaurants but the focus is on GOOD FOOD! The book covers almost 1,000 food establishments in the San Francisco Bay Area from restaurants covering dozens of cuisines to many entries in the following categories: * Taco Trucks/Street Carts * Bakeries * Farmers Markets * Ice Cream Shops * Cheese Shops * Wine Shops & Wineries The layout of the book at first appears to be a little chaotic but you quickly get used to it. The book is distilled from the gargantuan web site - CHOWHOUND.COM. But this book has one of the best indexes for finding what you want - the index alone is nearly 100 pages. It's much hipper and more up to date than Zagat's! In addition to being an excellent restaurant guide - it's a great read!
