Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Tiffany Torbeck
Many young people are interested in wrestling, and naturally, they want to know more about wrestling stars. Chris Jericho is one of the most recognizable names in wrestling and many readers will enjoy this story. The book opens with the story of Jericho's return to the ring in 2007. The passage is quite descriptive as it goes through his fight with Shawn Michaels but readers will have to read the end of the book to find out the results of the match. From there, readers learn about Jericho in chronological order; starting with his childhood in Canada to his early wrestling career in Mexico. Several matches and moves are described, and this will keep readers interested in the action. A glossary, index, and suggested reading are also included in this volume. While this book is a little light about Jericho's life outside the ring, it is exciting and engaging regarding his career and that is what readers may want. Since good books about wrestlers are in demand and can be hard to find, school and public libraries should definitely consider this one. Reviewer: Tiffany Torbeck
School Library Journal
Gr 3-6-Filled with graphics, bright colors, large photographs, and bold fonts, these titles focus on action inside the ring and provide only the briefest of personal information about the subjects. Through play-by-play action depicted over the course of several pages, various wrestling moves and story lines among the wrestlers are described. Nowhere in this series is the scripted nature of professional wrestling mentioned, and readers will be left with the impression that the action is spontaneous. Fans will enjoy perusing these titles, but those looking for depth or insider information about the sport won't find it here.
