Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
Vaney (Christian ethics, Good Shepherd Coll., New Zealand) has written an intriguing book, both deeply Catholic and deeply contemporary. The idea behind it is to use the famed Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius Loyola of the 16th century as a springboard for directed prayers, many of them ecological in focus, for our own century. While this reviewer is not certain that an ecological message is inherent in Ignatius's disciplined little handbook rather than imposed from without, Vaney's Creation-inclusive method certainly conforms with Catholic understanding of nature and the world. Refugees from the works of Matthew Fox or Christians with environmental concerns will find much to celebrate here. For most collections. Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
