Overview

This is a specially formatted, re-typeset for eBook edition of the old classic, CHRIST IN THE CAMP, or RELIGION IN LEE'S ARMY by Army of Northern Virginia Chaplain, J. William Jones, who was a close friend to Robert E. Lee and his commanders. In fact, J. William Jones was one of three select ministers to speak at the memorial service for Lee. The eminent historian, Douglas Southall Freeman quoted extensively from Jones in his works on Robert E. Lee. This edition has been annotated with background information where deemed necessary for the modern reader and also has translations of the Latin expressions, so common in 19th century writing. Photographs of some of the ANV chaplains have been added, which are not present in other past editions. This is a high quality production of a timeless work to be enjoyed by the generation of electronic readers. Edited by Dr. Gary Roper, a historian and theologian, co-founder with Sprinkle Publications of the Great Revival in the Southern Armies Conferences held for years in Harrisonburg, Virginia and Memphis, Tennessee.
