This book destroyed our family. Our father believed it and implemented it exactly as it reeds. He is an author himself and hyper intelligent, so he had no problem understanding a text. Quite the oposite. What he lacked was the sound ability to disregard the more stupid passages.

Both my parrents regrets ever letting this book into the house. I am much older than my dad was then. I feel sorry for him and the pain this book caused him.

Through the grace of God, I was saved from satanism that would have been the result of my father following this books advice. God is now doing the impossible, and slowly restoring bits and pieces of our family, no thanks to this foolish book.

Larry Christenson should repent, and remove this book from circulation. Mathew 25:40

Disagreement with role of husband as absolute ruler of the family

Many years ago I was asked by my pastor to prepare a series of lessons for adults based on this book. As I read and studied the book, I became increasingly concerned, until I finally told the pastor this book was not appropriate for our church family.
One of the philosophies of Larry Christenson is that the wife should unfailingly obey the husband, even if he tells her to bring in income from walking the street. He uses the story of Abraham and Sarah as justification. He also claims that children should obey even if their parents tell them to steal.
The belief of my church family is that no husband is so perfect that he must be completely obeyed. The wife and the children owe first allegiance to God. If the husband's demands are contrary to what the wife and children know are God's will, it is their responsibility to make decisions to rectify the situation, whether it means getting outside help or escaping from the situation.
Perhaps during these intervening years, Mr. Christenson has edited and improved on the philosophies in his book. Eventually, I might read it again to find out.
