Overview

CHRISTINA AGUILERA: NATIONAL BESTSELLER - It is the first and the best analytical, serious and uncensored look at Christina's life and her rise to the pinnacle of the pop world. A controversial and elusive figure, Christina Aguilera has polarized and mesmerized audiences since the beginning. While fans praise her sultry, soulful voice, other artists, including Eminem have openly proclaimed their dislike of her; and her idol, Mariah Carey, refused to talk to her. Love her or hate her, Christina's success is without precedent. Millions and millions of her albums sold worldwide. It seems that everything she touches turns platinum. In Christina Aguilera: A Star is Made, author Pier Dominguez traces the construction of a 21st century star and provides a shrewd, psychological portrait - the first analytical look at her life and rise to the pinnacle of the pop world. This biography reveals Christina Aguilera in a most intimate light, chronicling her early years, exploring her motivations and tracing the development of her career. It strips away the media hoopla and exposes the Real Christina. Christina Aguilera: A Star is Made gives you all the details about how Christina fled her abusive father at age 5; cut out her first manager and later refused to give her credit; dropped her first boyfriend as her fame was reaching its most glorious crescendo; became the puppet of her record label, which attempted to downplay her ethnicity and helped her keep her romantic life secret and fired the manager who took her to the top of the charts. After an almost two-year hiatus, and after having her stardom carefully constructed by the RCA label, Christina has come back with an album; that is almost entirely her own creation. PHOTOS

A biography of the pop singer, focusing on her journey of self-discovery and struggle to find her artistic identity.

    A great bio!

I am a huge christina fan who was looking for a book to show me what kind of person she is. This book sure did that! It proved she is an independent, strong artist who took control over her music and life. I hope all goes well in the future of this wonderful young singer who has a hard past and a bright future. THis biographer strips away the critics comments and media hoopla surronding this brave woman.

Christina Aguilera: A Star is Made- An Unauthorized Biography

Before buying this book, be aware that this is not your average biography of a pop singer. Pier Dominguez has written a well-researched, detailed, up-to-date and intimate biography of one of pop music's biggest superstars, Christina Aguilera. The book is filled with interesting information and anecdotes about Christina Aguilera, covering her life up to late 2002. It covers topics that those glossy fan books do not, including the abusive tactics of Christina's father, information about the Britney/Christina rivalry, intimate details about Christina's ex-boyfriend Jorge Santos, the complete story of Christina firing her longtime manager Steve Kurtz, and so much more. If you want a book that exposes the media hoopla and tells the truth about Christina's life, then this is the perfect book for you.

Great background on a true Fighter!

Ok, so I never really paid much attention to Christina Aguilera until the video for 'Fighter' came out. Then I realized that she is a truly independent artist. I was so suprised that I decided to read a book about her and this was the only one I could find that looked like a real book- it sure was! I didn't know anything about how hard it was for Christina to get ahead as opposed to Britney who practically had it all handed to her. Overall, this book gives a human touch to the singer and I really liked it- it has some really good info and pics. Enjoy!

    an okay biography

This book gave a nice biography about Christina Aguilera's life, but it wasn't the best one I've read about her. It's the most up-to-date book about her so far (it was published in late 2002), but I think the book could have used some improvement. For starters, this book did have some errors in it, such as saying that Chris Kirpatrick was from 'N Sync (he's from the Backstreet Boys!), and some of the songs on the discography were either written wrong or completely left out. Also, I found several spelling and grammar errors, which I'm wondering why the 3 editors never caught. The book also does diss Britney Spears a little bit, which I think is kind of unfair, even though the book is about Christina. It's filled with plenty of anecdotes about Christina, and includes a photo gallery with pictures of her from a little girl up to now. This book is the longest and most detailed one so far, but don't really expect to find any new information about Christina. A majority of the book's information came from magazine and newspaper articles, other books, and websites. Since the book is unauthorized, don't expect the entire thing to be true! Overall, this book was OK, but I think it could have been better.

    Great book!

A profile of singer Christina Aguilera, discusses her childhood achievements, her behind-the-scenes personality, the effect her success has had on her life, and her relationships with her staff and other celebrities. This compelling expose goes behind the glamour and glitz of her public persona to reveal how this determined young woman made it to the top.

Only good pop star bio I've ever read

Whether or not you like her music, Christina's life is interesting. I'm a pop culture fanatic, so this book was an obvious buy for me because it looked like and proved to be a serious book. That might not seem like a big deal, but anyone who has had to sift through all the junky photo books can tell you that a serious look into a pop star's life is a rare find. I commend author Pier Dominguez for being able to get through all the hype surrounding Christina's life and the pop world in general and for providing an intimate and genuine look at Christina as a person. As I said, you do not have to be a Christina fan to enjoy this book. I would dare say this is the only non-fluff book I've seen about any of the current pop stars.

Christina Aguilera: A Star is Made- An Unauthorized Biography

I have been reading biographies for a long time and I hadn't read such a well-researched, complete tome as this one in ages. The subject matter almost threw me off, but the author has written a real expose on the behind-the scenes happenings of Aguilera's career and actually goes beyond what was in the papers. Recommended for fans and non-fans alike.

The most insightful biography of Christina I've ever read.

I have been a huge Christina fan ever since she got her start, and this book is the most informative and interesting story yet. Through Christina's rise to stardom and her blossoming career, Dominguez gives an honest account of what really happened, not just what was reported. One of the quickest reads I've come across.
