Then the unthinkable happens, an attack that changes her life forever. And forever is a very long time for a vampire.

Now with Christmas just around the corner, Samantha Moon finds herself taking on a very strange case. **Acclaim for the Novels of J.R. Rain**

"Gripping, adventurous, and romantic—J.R. Rain's The Lost Ark is a breakneck thriller that traces the thread of history from Biblical stories to current-day headlines. Be prepared to lose sleep!"
—JAMES ROLLINS, international bestselling author of The Devil Colony

"I enjoyed this immensely. The protagonist, Samantha Moon, is a female vampire with a husband and children. Those predate her condition; six years ago she was attacked by a vampire and rendered into one. Now she's trying to carry on with family and private eye business, and she's a feisty, skilled person, so is doing mostly okay. It is not a horror story; she buys animal blood to eat and doesn't generally prey on humans. But her husband has an increasing problem with her coldness—not of spirit, but of body. 'You sicken me and scare the hell out of me,' he tells her. 'And when I touch you it's all I can do to not gag.' She replies, 'Words every wife wants to hear.' I love this! What makes it special are her character and nature."
—PIERS ANTHONY, bestselling author of A Spell for Chameleon

"Dark Horse is one of the best books I've read in a long time! A great classic detective story with a modern twist. Unique and interesting characters (I think I'm half in love with Jim Knighthorse now!), a great plot that kept me guessing until the end, and some of the funniest lines I've read anywhere."
—GEMMA HALLIDAY, bestselling author of Spying in High Heels

"J.R. Rain delivers a blend of action and wit that always entertains. Quick with the one-liners, but his characters are fully fleshed out (even the undead ones) and you’ll come back again and again."
—SCOTT NICHOLSON, bestselling author of Liquid Fear

"Impossible to put down. J.R. Rain's Moon Dance is a fabulous urban fantasy."
—APRIL VINE, author of Intrigue In India

"Moon Dance is absolutely brilliant!"
—LISA TENZIN-DOLMA, author of Understanding the Planetary Myths

"J.R. Rain is the new modern master of vampires."
—H.T. NIGHT, #1 bestselling Kindle author of Vampire Love Story

"I love Jim Knighthorse! Please write faster, Mr. Rain!"
—ELAINE BABICH, #1 bestselling Kindle author of You Never Called Me Princess

"Moon Dance is a must read. If you like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter, be prepared to love J. R. Rain's Samantha Moon, vampire private investigator."
—EVE PALUDAN, author of Letters from David

"I totally loved The Body Departed. As someone who communicates with those who are either earthbound or have crossed over—your descriptions and interpretations of the dialogue and circumstances could not have been written more accurately."
—JULIE BELMONT, author of The Path to Personal Success and Freedom

"I thoroughly enjoyed The Vampire With the Dragon Tattoo from one of my favorite authors. A great way to spend a few hours of the afternoon."
—JEN ASHTON, #1 bestselling Kindle author of Monstrous Love

"Powerful stuff!"
—AIDEN JAMES, bestselling author of Plague of Coins

This short story included in Vampire Dawn

Do NOT purchase this if you are planning on getting the newest book Vampire Dawn. This short story is included in the purchase of Vampire Dawn. Its at the back of the book. If you happen to overlook the author's note at the beginning you won't see that it is included. There are references in Vampire Dawn that don't make sense unless you read this short story first. Also know that because they included this story in Vampire Dawn you only get 65% (authors note) of a story in Vampire Dawn. Maybe you won't feel quite so disappointed if you know ahead of time and overlook the author's note like I did.

A short story between books 4 and 5 of the Vampire for Hire Seri

A short story between books 4 and 5 of the Vampire for Hire Series. Samantha has a client that has a safe stolen, admirers from a wanna-be vampire, a werewolf and now a fallen guardian angel, her children still give her a reason to hold onto humanity and Christmas is right around the corner. Another good book from J.R. Rain!

I didn't have this book at the end of book 5, so maybe all of the people posting that it is included had a different version than me :( I read book five first so this one did help to fill in the gaps from four to five that were missing for me.

    A very touching Christmas story

This story brings all but 1 character of the Samantha Moon books into one place at Christmas. Although Fang is mentioned several times, he is not invited to the Christmas festivities. Again Samantha's compassion and innate goodness is showcased when her ex-husband is allowed to enter the house to celebrate Christmas with their children and the other people in Sam's new life. I hope Vampire Dawn continues to enthrall us with more daring and caring actions from Samantha.

    cool book

It really keeps you waiting. I luv vamp. Books so this was a great read. I read the others. I really don't know who sam should be wth. So the first two were Kingsley and Fang. Now it's Ishmael. It is a very confusibg love sequence. Iwonder who she will choose. Me personaly ithink sge should choose Fang. I think this becayse his schetchy oast make him sort of mysterious and well Sam solves mysteries so...

For being a Christmas novella, this book wasn¿t too short or too

For being a Christmas novella, this book wasn’t too short or too Christmasy. This was a quick, fun read. A great in between novel for the series.

Samantha solves a stolen property case and is also able to show her Christmas kindness. The novel takes its usual course with all characters and her working as a PI, but it all happens just before Christmas. While this is a novella, it definitely should be read as it reveals a few things that are pertinent to the next book.

I would definitely recommend this novella to readers of this series. If you like a humorous mystery story with a little vampire, you should definitely check out this fun series. Mommy gone vampire.
