Editorial Reviews

The Cypress Times - Gail D. Welborn

Brumbaugh's stories and images create "faith-building" opportunities with young children. All stories center on the birth of Jesus Christ. However, what I especially liked were the prayers that tied to events children experience every day. Children love Christmas and this pastor's wife and author's delightful storybook offers "spiritual quality time" with children that focuses on the real reason for Christmas.
Goodreads - Nicole Erwin

This is a great little book for sharing the Christmas story with kids. It takes a Bible verse about the Christmas story and explains it in further detail in a way kids can understand. For example, it tells what it's like to be a shepherd and what they would have been doing when the angel appeared. After the explanation is a short prayer and then the lyrics to a Christmas hymn or poem. Nice illustrations accompany the text.
GoodReads - Amy Eye

This book does an absolutely beautiful job of providing the stories of Christmas into bedtime stories, or stories that can be read several at a time. It has scripture passages in it, as well as the author's stories that go along with them. The illustrations in the book are very well done. The colors are bright and simple, perfect to keep a child's attention, but not too much as to overwhelm them.
Over A Cuppa Tea - Elizabeth Toh

I absolutely love this Christmas story for bedtime by Renae Brumbaugh, and illustrated by David Miles. The illustrations is not only captivating, but the stories featured in it are just easy to understand.

This book feature alot of stories about Jesus of Nazareth and his early life. It was told in such a way to encourage children to pause and think about the real meaning of Christmas. I like this book very much, and as the title suggest, it’s perfect for a bedtime story.

If you’re looking for a religious bedtime storybook for your children with not only stories but hymns and prayers in it, this book is for you. This book will definitely make a wonderful keepsake. I rate this book 5 stars.

Reader Views
Zoey (age 6):

"I loved this book! I liked the pictures. It was easy to read and had prayers to say. I practiced them all. I didn’t know Jesus had so many names. Jesus was very special and people kept coming to see him. Mary didn’t want them to wake up Jesus. The story told me that sometimes I have to do things I don’t want to do, but I know I need to do them even if they are hard. You have to pray every day."

Zoey's Nana:

Zoey and her friend read this book for two days and talked about the stories. They liked the prayers and made us do them all. She asked a lot of questions and it was so easy for her to understand. "Christmas Stories for Bedtime" is a great book to introduce children to the birth of Jesus and what Christmas is all about.

This is a nice collection of stories, that combines actual scripture, stories from the bible and a prayer in a very kid friendly package. The lyrics to many well-known Christmas Carols are included as well. My youngest son and I enjoyed reading many of the stories together. We did not get through the entire collection before the Christmas holiday was over, but I'm sure we will revisit this one in the future.
