Barnes & Noble - Tracy E. Hopkins
Christmas is a holiday when we celebrate the spirit of family and friendship with festive decorations, lavish gift giving, and waist-expanding meals. But many forget the true meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Contemporary gospel great Yolanda Adams offers us a gentle melodic reminder with her first holiday disc, which follows up her Grammy-winning smash Mountain High Valley Low. Although Adams's soulful soprano illuminates yuletide standards such as "Have Yourself a Merry Christmas" and "The Christmas Song," she really sinks her teeth into hymns such as "Born this Day" and "O Holy Night," which are transformed into soaring birthday ...

But many forget the true meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Contemporary gospel great Yolanda Adams offers us a gentle melodic reminder with her first holiday disc, which follows up her Grammy-winning smash Mountain High Valley Low. Although Adams's soulful soprano illuminates yuletide standards such as "Have Yourself a Merry Christmas" and "The Christmas Song," she really sinks her teeth into hymns such as "Born this Day" and "O Holy Night," which are transformed into soaring birthday wishes to the Lord. Other highlights include the R&B-tinged medley of "Carol of the Bells" and "What Child Is This" and the ambitious "Joy Medley," comprised of "Joy to the World," "Angels We Have Heard on High," and "Hark the Herald Angels Sing." Regardless of race or creed, listening to the angelic Adams should inspire everyone to spread love on Christmas Day.
All Music Guide - Stacia Proefrock
After her forays into R&B and pop flavors on albums like 1998's Grammy winner Mountain High Valley Low, a Christmas album was the next logical step for gospel singer Yolanda Adams. Where better than a Christmas album to explore new textures within classic sacred songs? Traditional Christmas favorites include "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," "O Come All Ye Faithful," and "Silent Night"; interpreted with Adams' signature rich, emotive voice and passionate delivery, they gain a new depth. She also tackles a few pop classics, including "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "The Christmas Song."

    Praise God

I have heard I open my heart and I really enjoyed it. I feel as though the song is just for me.
