Christmas, Wizards and Goblins
Twelve incredible, cliff-hanging adventures take two, eleven-year-old orphans through a world of fantasy and mind boggling challenges. Their adventure begins in an orphanage in Nebraska. The children are told that a blinding snowstorm has prevented the town from delivering their annual Christmas tree. To make things worse, it was Tim’s turn to put the Silver Star on top of the tree. At age eleven, and the oldest boy in the orphanage, he knew it would be his responsibility to secretly brave the wintry elements to chop down a suitable tree from the dense forest surrounding the orphanage. Tim mentions his plans to Cindy and she insists on coming along or she will tell Sister Theresa. Reluctantly, he agrees.
To their surprise, a ten-foot, very friendly, black and white, plaid dragon, named Horace Z. Franklin, is waiting outside the cellar window to help them. It should be noted that dragons rarely visit Nebraska, especially in the winter, but Horace was having fire-breathing problems and his doctor suggested that going north might help cure those problems.
With Franklin leading their pursuit of a tree, their first misadventure is with an unruly tribe of six-inch tall, gruff sounding, obnoxious Owlly creatures who start the children’s Christmas tree pursuit off on a very sour note. Their twelve incredible adventures culminate in witch Ezmeralda's castle on top of the Mountain of Doom. Getting a tree to the orphanage on Christmas Eve does not look promising.
