Overview

Who was the first king of ancient Egypt, and who was the last? Which Egyptian queens ruled in their own right? What in fact do we know about the 170 or more pharoahs whose names have down to us? This book sets down in narrative form, using timelines, and other visual aids throughout, all the rulers and dynasties of Egypt in their chronological order, from Narmer, who first united the lands along the Nile, to Cleopatra 3000 years later. The biographical portraits of each pharoah build into a history of ancient Egypt. This is at once a work of popular history, a reference tool, and a visual introduction to the extraordinary diversity and richness of an ancient civilization.

Here is the first book to depict chronologically and in narrative form all the rulers and dynasties of Egypt--from Narmer, who united the lands along the Nile, to Cleopatra 3,000 years later. Includes biographical portraits, timelines, cartouches (royal names in hieroglyphs), genealogical tables, and portraits. Over 300 illustrations, some in color. 17,500.

    Loved It!

I was looking for a book with accurate Egyptian history and was delighted upon reading this. It was to the point, offered interesting facts on the reigns of pharaohs both major and minor. The pictures and illustrations were incredible. I also enjoyed that it took you from the first known pharaoh to the Greek and Roman Empires, discussing Alexander the Great and the Ptolemies. I could not put this book down!
