Chronicles

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - James Christopher Monger
This two-disc U.K. collection from 2005 features 34 classic tracks culled from material recorded between the British folk-rock legend's 1968 eponymous debut and 1975's Rising for the Moon. Listeners looking for a solid entry point into the world of Fairport Convention will find that Chronicles more than suffices, as it relies a great deal on the group's most beloved lineup featuring Richard Thompson and Sandy Denny. However, 1999's Meet on the Ledge: The Classic Years 1967-1975 is as good if not better than Chronicles, and is far easier to locate. [Chronicles was reissued in 2008 as Gold on Island records.]
