About the Author

I am Priestess Lauren Angelykah Starh, artist and author. I create handmade accessories, mixed media art, and graphic art for fashion, home décor, and accessories. My artwork is unique and available in limited quantity. I have been creating art professionally since 2002. After earning a bachelor's in Art and Design in 2006, I began work in Interior Design. In 2008, I started my first fashion accessories and home decor business, Surreal DesignZ Boutique. My work gained popularity after I was featured in “The Roadside Attraction,” a fashion show in my hometown. The same year, I became very involved in the metaphysical community. Having had an interest in the occult since childhood, I became immersed in the culture during my early adult years. My spirituality and lifestyle greatly influenced my art and studies. I continued to create jewelry and accessories, reminiscent of the gothic and emo style. I also began to provide psychic readings. In about 2010, I decided to continue my education, by enrolling in a Master’s Degree program. During the early 2010s, I became ordained an began to become educated in Afro-Caribbean spirituality and religions, such as Santeria, Yoruba, and Voudon. The vibrant colors of Afrocentric culture and the dark and mysterious overtones of the diaspora joined together and influenced my art and life. I found my calling early providing psychic advising and art as therapy to those who could experience my artwork. Spirituality and religion are very important to me. I have practiced solitary and in small groups for many years. I continue today spreading esoteric knowledge and psychic advising to those who seek answers. Through books, magick counseling, and psychic advising, I help others find peace. I strongly believe that art and religion reveal subconscious thought.
