Dustin J. Palmer(born 1982) was born, raised, and continues to live in West Texas. He grew up in a middle class family; his father was a Pumper in the oilfield, his mother a stay at home mom. Some of his first life lessons came from the backroom of a biker clubhouse, where he learned such useful skills as how to play pool and of course how to B.S. with the best of them. He spent most of his summers wandering the countryside and back roads of New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas with his grandfather where he learned the art of trading. Together they would sell everything from spurs and saddles, to guns and knives, meeting many colorful characters along the way.
Dustin's first writing experience came at the age of five. After school(and often during) he would spend hours writing his "stories" on typing paper with a pencil and crayons. The outlaws were usually drawn holding moneybags with backwards dollar signs, the good guys with smoking pistols in their hands and large crooked stars on their chests. At thirteen, using his mother's state of the art word processor, Dustin wrote his first complete short story, depicting himself and his friends surviving a Russian invasion. After high school Dustin bounced around from job to job trying to find his place in this world. He did everything from working the competitive sales floors of Sears Lawn and Garden, to stocking the icy dairy freezers of Walmart, and finally to spending his nights stocking at a haunted Office Depot. Through it all he struggled to find his place until one day his wife Natasha came across a short story he'd written. With tears in her eyes she said, "I had no idea you could write like this!" And there it was, just the encouragement Dustin had needed. Two years later, after countless rewrites, edits, plot changes, and late, late, nights(or rather early mornings), Dustin had cranked out his first novel.
Today Dustin lives in Lubbock, TX with his wife and three kids. When not writing he enjoys fishing, camping, playing pool, gaming, and spending time with his beautiful wife of nine years.
