Overview

Winston Churchill knew the power of words. In speeches, books, and articles, he expressed his feelings and laid out his vision for the future. His wartime writings and speeches have fascinated generation after generation with their powerful narrative style and thoughtful reflection.

Martin Gilbert, Churchill’s official biographer, has chosen passages that express the essence of Churchill’s thoughts and describe—in his own inimitable words—the main adventures of his life and the main crises of his career. From first to last, they give insight into his life, how it evolved, and how he made his mark on the British and world stage.

My dad was in the Navy during WWII, and I often buy books for him about the war. He has often said, Churchill is fascinating, you should learn more. I took him up on it, and Dad (as usual) is quite right. This book is arranged by his age in life. What a writer Churchill was. I am only at the tip of this great book. He was a powerhouse ahead of his time. I can't recommend this enough. Excellent book.

Martin Gilbert ( Sir Winston Churchill's official biographer), has brought together his most powerful and important speeches and the genesis that caused them. A worthwhile book that shows Churchill's amazing cognizance of the times of which he lived and what he did to confront both good and evil! He truly was The Man of the 20th Century
