Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Ramirose I. Attebury
For anyone who enjoys the Five Little Monkeys, this book will truly be a treasure. Not only is the rhythmically pleasing classic included, but four additional tales about the monkeys will quadruple the pleasure of young readers. In one tale five little monkeys sitting in a tree learn about the dangers of teasing the crocodiles living in the waters below them. In another the capricious little monkeys spend all day cleaning their house in anticipation of their grandmother's visit, only to make an even bigger mess with the berries they also picked for her. Their knack for wreaking havoc in their house continues as they attempt to surprise their mother with a homemade birthday cake. Although they are mischievous and messy, the monkeys are also good-natured and caring. When their mother decides to sell their old car to buy a new one, the monkeys clean, paint, and perfume it, only to have the old auto role down the hill to the crocodile-infested swamp. Showing their intelligent streak, the monkeys convince the crocs to buy the car for nap space. More than just five tales though, this book also contains end matter that will help children learn to draw monkeys and to sing the Five Little Monkeys song. The final page is also filled with 24 cute monkey stickers. Adorable illustrations and predictable textual patterns will make this book appealing and useful to all young readers and those who work with them. Reviewer: Ramirose I. Attebury
