Overview

Celebrate the success of Alan Sitomer's new children's book, Cinder-Smella--NOW ON SALE! $2.99 for a limited time only!

From the book:
"Once Upon a Time there was a little girl that PEEE-YEWWW! had very stinky feet. Her name was Cinder-Smella and though she was very pretty and very nice, her family was very mean to her. Especially her evil stepmother and two wicked stepsisters, Rosalyn and Faye. They were jealous of her beauty. They teased her non-stop, forced her to do all the house-work, and NEVER let her wear socks.

All of this made Cinder-Smella very unhappy. And then one day . . ."

See why author Rodman Philbrick (Freak the Mighty) calls Cinder-Smella "Pure magic!" and says that "Sitomer and Bair are the Penn & Teller of a witty, laugh-out-loud, gorgeously illustrated tale that will appeal to adults as well children."

Emma Glover, California Teacher of the Year (2006) relates her experience of the book: "My first thought in looking at Cinder-Smella was "Oh No! Not another Cinderella. . ." From the beginning of the book I quickly realized that Cinder-Smella was no ordinary, hum-drum version of an old classic. Alan Sitomer's version kept me smiling and laughing to the very end. A book destined to keep children giggling and adults, at the very least, smiling. Truly a book to share, read together and enjoy."

Meet the Author

ALAN LAWRENCE SITOMER is the award-winning author of several young adult novels, recognized as California Teacher of the Year in 2007, the creator of a cutting edge language arts educational curriculum called the BookJam, and a highly sought-after speaker across the country. He is also a proud dad. This is his first children's book. Why did he write the book? Sitomer says "Cinder-Smella began for me as a fun, little nighttime story I invented at the bedside of my daughter. Seeing her laugh, laugh, laugh at my embellishments and re-interpretation of this timeless classic is where the joyful journey of writing this book began..."

ALLISON BAIR is the illustrator behind Cinder-Smella. Her previous works include "Yuk! I Hate Vegibles!" and "Goodnight Almaz." Allison is the founder of Brown Bair (a creative studio) and has a passion for illustration, an eye for design, a stomach full of tofu, and a brain full of creativity.

    So bad

This book is not at all appropriate for kids ages 3-5. First of all, it's 50 pages long and lacks pictures which make it appealing as a nookbook for 3-5 yr olds. The content is directed more towards the tween age (8-12 yr olds)I would say and the writing is not very good. I would recommend the original Cinderella story before this book.

    highly recommended

There are, allegedly, some 600 worldwide accounts, or versions, of the Cinderella story. Thanks to Alan Sitomer and Allison Blair, there are now 601. The formula--just add as bit of grossness and offbeat items--works for the picture book set. Why won't those horrid stepsisters and stepmother ever learn that it doesn't pay to deal with such non-sense(s)? Whew!

    Alan Does it Again

I can't begin to tell you how much my family enjoyed this read. Alan took a tired but wonderful story line and gave it a 21st Century facelift. The result, a new classic that your children will be asking you to read again and again.

    Best,
    Joe Fatheree
