Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Designated as a Classic Little Golden Book, this is the classic Disney version of the Cinderella story (first published in 1950) with slightly different illustrations. Cinderella is good and sweet and a friend to animals, the stepsisters are mean and dismissive, the prince is good-looking and love struck. Children familiar with the movie version will probably wonder why the illustrations aren't exactly "accurate," but it really won't matter as they will certainly recognize the story. For new readers, Golden Books are always a nice introduction to sanitized versions of fairy tales (no Grimm's Brothers here to scare or frighten young readers); however, if your library already has the 1950's version, there is really no reason to buy the 2005 version. 2004, A Golden Book, Ages 3 to 7.

I bought both Cinderella Golden books and this one is by far the best. Told the complete story and the illustrations are great. Not like the Disney movie illustrations but perfect non the less. If you have to choose between the two Cinderella books; by all means get this one. It's the original little golden book from the 50's.
