Overview

Sometimes Fairytales come true...

First Sergeant Cori Valentine faces a bleak future. She’s turning forty in three weeks and life as she knows it is over. An injury received while on deployment has earned her an early retirement from the Marine Corps, something she’s not sure she’ll survive. Things get even better when interfering Marines set her up on a blind date for a party she doesn’t want. The guy has to be a total toad to want to go out with her. Right?

When Madame Eve informs Retired SEAL, Sol Keller she’s found his perfect match, he doesn’t believe it, but takes up the challenge. One look at the First Sergeant in a sexy dress and combat boots has him wondering if fairytales really can come true. Madame Eve might be the legendary Fairy Godmother, and Cori his Cinderella. Sol intends to show the Marine beauty a Prince Charming she’ll never forget, and that retirement isn’t the end of her story but merely the beginning.

The 1NightStand stories are for the most part stand-alone and written by different authors.  They have certain things in common Castillio Resorts and most importantly Madame Eve who has a gift of matching people who invariably end up with more than 1 night whether it is a forever kind of love or a chance to see if there is a chance for a forever kind of love. In Cinderella Wore Combat Boots. An injury received while on deployment has earned First Sergeant Cori Valentine an early retirement from the Marine Corps.  She is devastated she is 40 single and now being forced into an uncertain future.  Cori has devoted her life to the Corps and the men and women in her unit are not going to let her get out of her retirement party.  They go so far as to arrange a date for her with Madame Eve’s 1NightStand service.  Retired SEAL, Sol Keller has been where Cori is and is just the man to see her through the party and give her a clue that her service to her country doesn’t have to be defined by the Corps.  As anyone who has read my blog with any regularity knows I am a big fan of military romance.  And this short read gets 5 stars from me.  I really liked Cori and Sol and would’ve enjoyed reading more but what I read hit every button.

This is one of my favorite reads for the year. The sergeant being forced to retire, her dismay at her situation, the wonderful support of her troops...and they guy! Sigh. I don't want to give it away, but this is a wonderful, romantic book with humor and enough heat to keep things interesting!

I absolutely loved this 1 Night Stand story. It's much different than many of the others I've read, but enjoyable just the same. D.L. Jackson goes deep into the emotions of Cori, the MC and drew me in. Her knowledge of the military is revealed in this story as well. If you're looking for a hot military romance, be sure to read Cinderella Wore Combat Boots!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were very real and there were sweet and funny parts to the story. My only complaint was that it wasn't longer. I would have loved for the author to elaborate on the scene where her Marines were going to teach her to dance.
