    OK but not the best

My daughter is two and a half and really likes this book. She is very proud that she can 'read' it. That's the good part, giving her confidence. I love Cinderella and really like these Step into reading books but this one is not my favorite. No little child is going to sound out a word like 'Cinderella' unless they are more advanced. The sentences are too simple, a few words each. It does count to twelve in the story so I liked that. I read it to my daughter maybe twice before she started to read everything back to me. I know it's just repeating but I like the confidence it gives her and like that she can remember all the words. Pretty pictures of course. It's just that the other step into reading books have better skill building for sounding out words. Also, since the sentences are so limited, so is the story. If you didn't already know the story, you won't learn it from reading this. Kids need something more exciting to keep their interest. Wake up, Sun is a better book example.

    I Also Recommend:

    Cinderella

My 1 1/2 year old loves books and she especially loves this one as it progresses with both numbers and a story plot. We continue to read it frequently with interest every time.
