It might be possible to dispute the final running time of this set two of the discs run under an hour and it might even be possible to dispute the selections. However, it would not be worth the effort or the time -- Cinema Century runs almost four hours as it is, covering 58 themes and suites. The orchestras involved include Silva Screen stalwarts the City of Prague Philharmonic, along with the Westminster Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic, the London Screen Orchestra, the Philharmonia, and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. Synthesizer performer Mark Ayres provides coverage of Chariots of Fire and The Terminator to fill things out. Preference, overall, is given to the more dynamic and sometimes more bombastic scores, with a few quieter moments salted in with the orchestral bravado. Altogether enjoyable, though serious underscore fans are likely to pass Cinema Century by in favor of the original recordings.
