Zoe Chambers paramedic and deputy coroner in the tight-knit rura

Zoe Chambers paramedic and deputy coroner in the tight-knit rural Vance Township in Pennsylvania, has been privy to many secrets over the years, some of them her own. Secrets explode when a dead body is found in the abandoned car of the Township Board President. While a blizzard ranges Zoe and Police Chief Pete Adams launch the investigation to find the killer, uncovering secrets that could destroy them all.

I loved this debut mystery by Annette Dashofy. Zoe was realistic and her friends (and not so much friends) jumped off the pages. I'm planning on reading the second book in this series when it comes out.

Zoe Chambers, paramedic and deputy coroner in rural Pennsylvania

    Dollycas’s Thoughts

    A great debut!!!

This one grabbed me from the start. Zoe Chambers is such a multidimensional character. Her life has had many bumps in the road so far. Living in a small town she was able to keep a few secrets but after a dead body is found all her secrets come out and even land her on the suspect list. Her life intersects with basically the entire town and relationships are tested as the investigation continues and she learns she is not the only one with secrets.

The supporting characters from Police Chief Pete Adams to Zoe’s friend Rose, along with Rose’s mother-in-law and teenage kids are all so strong and all play pivotal roles. The author has a very descriptive way of writing not only her characters, but also time and place. It was like watching a movie in my mind. I found the entire story very compelling and amazed myself at how quickly I read it.

This book has all the elements of a cozy mystery but it has an edgier feel with some graphic detail but is does not reach the level of the suspense/thriller genre.

I am excited to read Lost Legacy set to be released later this year. Dashofy has given us a wonderful start to what I hope is a very long series.

Unlimited boring details kills reader's interest.

After 200 pages I couldn't gag down any more non-contributing side stories. The author kills her own story with blah, blah, blah. Don't waste your time on this author.

4 STARS I like Zoe Chambers. This had pretty good suspense.

    4 STARS

I like Zoe Chambers. This had pretty good suspense. I guessed right on small parts and missed the big pictures by far. Boy was there plenty of drama. Plenty of suspects. Clean read. Plenty of secrets.

Zoe Chambers is a paramedic in a small township. She rents have a house and takes care of the barn so she can keep her horse. Zoe was a party girl in high school and that still impacts her life today.

A old boyfriend of hers married her best friend. Now he is murdered. She does not believe some of the rumors she is hearing about him. His wife is still her good friend. She is also close to his two teenagers.

Because it is a small township the county is taken over the murder case. The local Police Chief Pete does not like that. Pete likes to flirt with Zoe. His secretary has been arrested for stealing a computer.

It being a small town a lot of things cross with one another.

I like Pete and Zoe and want them to start dating. They are keeping secrets from each other.

The setting is Monongahela County, Pennsylvania. Lots of farm land.

I did not want to put the book down until I had finished reading it. I want to read the next book in the series Lost Legacy and see how everyone is and what happens next for the town.

I was given this ebook to read and in exchange asked to give a honest review of it by Netgalley and Henery Press.

    Great Story

Zoe Chambers:EMT and deputy coroner, has always been a hometown girl, which in a small town means you might have and or run into secrets better kept unsaid. When one of the Town Supervisors is found dead in a car, some of those secrets could get a LOT if peiple, including Zoe herself, in big trouble.

It's a great read (finished it in two sittings) that I didn't want to end. The reasons get a bit muddied in the mysteries, but keep reading because you want to. Loved the chemistry between Zie and her friends an her "enemies". Hopefully, this will be a long running series of an authentic new author!

[Note: I recieved this book directly from the publisher as part of a launch day giveaway. In no way did the giveaway effect my opinion, which is 100% my own (the other part of the giveaway, however, in the form of a humengous coffee mug has raised my caffine level ;)]

It is rare anymore to find a book I have a hard time putting dow

It is rare anymore to find a book I have a hard time putting down. This is one such book. I connected with the characters and hurt when they hurt. There is no unnecessary crudeness, gore or graphic descriptions, and very little cursing. This is a book and series, I've read the second book, I will heartily recommend.

    It was okay.

How stupid can Zoe be? She admitted to being a slut in high school yet moves in with a man who doesn't charge her room and board and he even buys her a horse. She says she thought he was being nice and then accuses him of rape when he wanted some form of payback. Please that was stupid on the author's part. An experienced girl like Zoe would have known nothing is free and would have known the man was after something else.

Zoe liked to play the victim a lot. She ended up getting on my nerves after a while. I also thought it was stupid how there were other ambulances yet she was always called to the scene of the crime.

I don't think I'll read anymore of these books unless they're free.

Circle of Influence is a crackin' good read from start to finis

Circle of Influence is a crackin' good read from start to finish! I mainly got it because it fit one of the tasks in the Goodreads group Seasonal Reading Challenge for "Geometry" = Circle. I had no expectations going in but am so happy I chose it! The writing is great and shows real literary talent. It was so atmospheric I could feel the cold of the January night and see the Pennsylvania countryside. I could feel the tension in the room at the township supervises' meeting and shared the grief of the family over the death of their loved one. Even though it was set in a small town this was nota cozy and had some real dark elements and depth but also had its share of lighter moments of comic relief. The characters are believable and some are likable and others not so much but still "good" characters. Zoe is a great heroine, a paramedic who has a history with some of the people involved. Pete is a good police chief and seems more likeable than some in the same role. The kids were a little bit over the top at times but I guess they needed to be for the story. There were a lot of twists and when I thought I had it all figured out there would be another twist that would make me say "WHAT????" more than once! I liked this book so much that when I finished it I clicked on the link to buy LOST LEGACY the second in the series! Yes, I am a fan of the Zoe Chambers series and the author Annette Dashofy who brought her and Vance Township to life.
