If it's good enough for Howard Stern to use every day on his radio show, it's good enough to offer the discriminating Barnes & Noble listener! Verne Langdon, known in genteel music circles as the ''Poet of the Piano'', steps on the hand-carved gold leaf Circus Clown Calliope wagon and into the American Circuses' legendary past with fingers-a-flyin' on such standards of the Big Top as ''Twelfth Street Rag'', ''One of those Songs'', ''Abba Dabba Honeymoon'', ''Carousel Dreams'', and ''The Old Piano Roll Blues''; you can almost taste the cotton candy floss and smell the sawdust! Few music collections can conjure up all the senses at once; this one fills the bill. This CD contains VOLUMES ONE & TWO of Electric Lemon's classic calliope cacophony, and in addition to Stern, the collections have been used by Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey as well as the Smithsonian Institute on tour (Caulder circus mobile collection). Cover photography is by none other than the late designer Charles Eames, and features famed Masters of Mirth Felix Adler and Otto Griebling. Here is a collector's collection-within-a-collection, calliope at its very finest! (Paul Elmore flawlessly engineered for Electric Lemon; Brian Freeman masterfully mastered the CD.)Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
