A Lilac Wolf and Stuff Review

The cover, just like her previous novel, is colorful and quirky. If I saw this as a paperback it would catch my attention. Looks like it is just an e-book right now. But on the bright side it's only $2.99 and worth every penny!

Can you read this if you haven't read Take the Monkeys and Run? Yes! There isn't really much that happened in the first one that she doesn't cover in this one. Like her husband isn't living at home and she explains that with finding out he's an FBI agent their whole lifetime together was thrown under the microscope so she told him that they should start over with dating.

Problem is she misses him dearly and even she thinks she was an idiot for suggesting it. Especially when she sees him dining with a hot blonde. And that's all I can say about this plot line. lol

A character from the previous book, Frank, a mobster who hated killing is back. He is free in exchange for helping the FBI and is turning over a new leaf. He is a chef at the yummy Italian restaurant and brings Barb baked Ziti along with an apology. Oh I hope he's here to stay, he's a hoot!

There are a few times in the book that make me laugh so hard (harder than other places) when Karen makes fun of it being a murder mystery. Like Barbara finding her friend missing and a note written in blood, she calls 9-1-1 and laments "why does this keep happening to me!?" And another friend in the story saying "We've become characters in a silly mystery book." Of course Peggy thinks that's great! Those scenes made me giggle.

Well the mystery is that Bunny and Michelle have a fight after a PTA meeting, the only one Barbara has ever attended. And later that night she gets a strange phone call from Bunny begging her to come over. Barb grabs Roz and they make their way over, when suddenly Barb hears a thump. They hit Michelle. Poor Barb thinks she killed her - but that's where the mystery starts. Police are holding Michelle's husband but Barb is certain Bunny did it. So - who done it? Read the book! You won't regret it.

And before I drop the 5 stars on this one I want to say BEST ENDING EVER!!! It made me all fuzzy and warm inside.

I know I'm not leader, but I'm speaking as me, not my cat. Just wanted to say that ashclan is much more actiive now. Dragon is leader and I am deputy. We are trying to do a prophecy, but it. Not. Working.

She waited untill it was her turn, the spoke up. "AshClan has been less and less active. SpotStar has left me to be in charge untill he gets back, but we came up with a great idea." ((We created an AshClan and other Clans on w<_>ww.wattp<_>ad.co<_>m, and are RPing there, too. You can't get locked out!) She bounded up. "NorthClan is doing well. We had an issue with LostStar, but I am leader now. BlueFlame is deputy. Although we are short on kits, we are as strong as ever. Also, LinkedSpirit is co-deputy. He is also known as LostSpirit. Anyways, Northclan is doing well, with new members. We used to be inactive, but we are coming back." She finished, then waved her tail to signal that another leader could go.

On his low branch, the SandClan deputy stepped forward, slightly nervous. "Duststar's wifi crashed, so that's why I'm representing SandClan at this Gathering." He paused. "Prey has been plentiful, but not cats. We are growing inactive, I'm sorry to say. But besides that, nothing has really happened." He stepped back, signalling for another leader to speak.

    The Great Oak
¿At the center of the gathering clearing grows an ancient oak. From it's massive branches, the entire gathering can be seen. Here the leaders will announce the news of their clans while their clanmates listen from below. The twisted roots at its base serve as perches for each clans' deputy as well. This is an important place. What is said from the top of this mighty tree will shape the very destiny of the pact clans. ~ The Great Oak, Lilywolf ♥
¿
¿Here is The Great Oak and a list of reminders pertaining to it.
¿1. ONLY pact clan leaders should post here. If you are not the leader of Horseclan, Sandclan, Ashclan, Northclan, or Rainclan, then you should not be posting here. Please respect this. It is to ensure that everyone can easily read what each clan leader has to say. The only exception is if your clan leader gives his/her deputy permission to announce in his/her place or if they are pronounced missing. Remember they have all day Sunday to post their speeches. The last leader should also dismiss the gathering. So depending on how quickly the leaders arrive and share their news, the gathering could be long or short. All other cats besides leaders can respond to these announcements in the Gathering Clearing (1st result of "Barbara Marr").
¿2. Remember if a leader has gone missing by the time of one gathering and has not returned by the next (or is only briefly on), then the deputy should take on role as leader. This gives the leader at least a full two weeks to be active. Of course if the leader gives warning in advance of his/her absence, then this will not apply. Also if a very active leader were to come back then the two leaders would have to work something out. But clans are only as active as their leaders and I believe leaders should earn their place through hard work.

Barbara Marr in more hot water

I LOVE Karen Cantwell's Barbara Marr books! Soccer Mom seems to be drawn to trouble (or it, to her), and she drags her friends along. First there's Bunny Bergen, a neighbor, standing in her yard, acting REALLY strange, then there's the body she hits, with her van, only to find that that lady has been shot 3 times, too. This book, like Take the Monkeys and Run, is hilarious!
