Children's LiteratureIdeas for teaching the young reader to become a good citizen include picking up trash in the neighborhood, voting in school elections, and volunteering in the community. Most of these ideas would require an older reader, but the ideas are good. Susan B. Anthony is used as an example of one who exhibited good citizenship. Our armed forces are also included as an example. It is often difficult for adults to know if they are teaching young children enough about the values of life, and respect for other people. This series "First Facts, Everyday Character Education" addresses a variety of behaviors, and is a great tool for early childhood teachers, as well as parents. Excellent resources are included, as well as a glossary. 2005, Capstone Press, Ages 4 to 8.
