A great book if you can get past the slow start and bad proof reading. Once the stage is set the book keeps your attention and pulls you into the story. I have read Todd's "Dragons of Pern" books and loved them all. This is the first non-Dragons book I have read of his, I like his style and would encourage the read.

This book inspired my son just by the description of the concept. The primise that using nano technology will lead to artifical intellegence, and that events that it is first exposed to will affect its personality.

I was very impressed with this story by Todd McCaffrey. Having read all the Pern novels I was not sure what to expect, but this story kept me interested all the way through. I had a hard time putting it down. It does help that I live in the LA area, so can really relate to some of the places and events that are mentioned in the book. Just one thing that caught me by surprise was that the ending was pretty abrupt - I kind felt like there should have been more...Otherwise VERY enjoyable read.
