Overview

In the penultimate book in the Edge Chronicles series, Quint is travelling with his father, Wind Jackal, on a mission to track down and bring to justice Turbot Smeal, the man who started the fire that killed their family. Having left behind his studies at the Knights Academy, Quint is now eager to learn from his father what it really means to be a sky pirate. But, consumed by his desire to capture Smeal, Wind Jackal’ s judgment is flawed, and his actions endanger the lives of his crew — and his son.

As they travel from the taverns and backstreets of Undertown and the wonders of the shipbuilders’ yards, to the dark dangers of the Deepwoods, Quint and Maris become separated from the rest of the crew. Finally, at the mysterious, ghostly sky-wreck in Open Sky, they discover the truth about Smeal.

Children's Literature
The ninth book in "The Edge Chronicles" series reunites readers with Quint and his friend Maris as they sail the skies on a sky pirate ship captained by Quint's father, Wind Jackal. The man who killed Quint's mother and siblings in a horrible fire has reemerged and Wind Jackal is bent on avenging those deaths, but there is something sinister going on in Undertown, and if the Leagues have their way, the sky pirates' times might be coming to an end. The story sometimes seemed to lack focus, making it hard to concentrate on the issues the characters were facing. Though the setting was well-developed and interesting, being pulled away from the main character so many times by descriptions caused some tedious reading, and though the character of Maris was supposed to be brave, determined, and intelligent, she more often fell far short of that mark, coming off flat and silly where she could have been so much more. Fans of the series will enjoy the somewhat-satisfying conclusion of Quint's narrative; however, this is not a stand-alone novel and should probably be read only after reading the first eight books in the series.     Clash of the Sky Galleons is superb!

    This book of the many books in the Edge Chronicles series is a very exciting thriller! Also it has many kinds of fanasty drawings which are very detailed in the work.Paul Stewart and Chris Riddle have done an excellent job in all thier books.I guarentee you that you will love this book.
