Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Wendy Pollock-Gilson
Wiglaf, who hates the sight of blood, killed two dragons by accident, and now the greedy Mordred, headmaster of Dragon Slayers' Academy wants him to hunt in gloomy caves for the dead dragon's gold. Wiglaf fortunately has two friends who help him in his search, which includes tricking trolls and leads the friends to the Cave of Doom. Their humorous adventures ends with two gold pieces and with Wiglaf realizing that he is truly brave. This is the third in the "Dragon Slayers' Academy" series and is perfect for elementary school readers who enjoy fantasy and adventure.

    Dragon slayers academy fun

This is one of my five year old grandson's favorite series now. We have several in the series. He was previously so fearful of anything that was in the slightest bit frightening. We started reading these together and because there are little boys doing these challenging things together he has become braver and wants to hear more. He is sorting out what is pretend and not. Reading is a love of his and he can read much of the book but likes it better when we read it together. We stop and talk about what does he think the boys will do next and what will happen. The story line offers me that opportunity to chat about options.
