Ted Lewis was a cornball singer/talker and a rather limited clarinetist and C-melody saxophonist who nevertheless was quite popular in the 1920s. He led a band that included quite a few talented jazz players. The 1928-1929 editions, which are heard from on this CD, include trombonist George Brunies, Don Murray on reeds clarinet, alto, tenor, and baritone, and starting on the 16th song cornetist Muggsy Spanier. In addition, Frank Teschemacher is featured on intriguing versions of "Farewell Blues" and "Wabash Blues."
