We purchased this for my son's school project - I went through it myself and, even though I had read some of the narratives in school years ago, I realized again how much of a worthwhile reference volume this truly is. Our son's history unit for one month will no wbe a staple on our bookshelf for a long time.
Every student who wants to know more about slavery and important blacks who made a difference in the world, should read this book for personal and educational intellect.
Reading about the lives of people in the past and reading through their voice is always amazing to me. I really feel that narratives help connect past to present.
