Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 2–4—Jules Verne's classic has been abridged and adapted for a younger audience. The retelling lacks spirit and drama. The female narrator does not enhance the adaptation. Her pace is very rapid and she speaks in a monotone, sounding robotic at times. In trying to deliver the male dialogue segments, she uses an exaggerated deep, gravelly voice. Since all the characters are male, the choice of a female narrator is a curious one. —April Mazza, Wayland Public Library, MA
