It's called Classical Hits, but it's much more. Sure, there's plenty of Puccini (performed by Renée Fleming and Luciano Pavarotti) and a touch of Vivaldi and Bach. But you'll also get music from the motion pictures Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Gladiator, Braveheart, Titanic, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Broadway classics by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Leonard Bernstein; and crossover favorites from Russell Watson, Mark O'Connor, Yo-Yo Ma, and Bond. Classical hits, yes, but only for starters.

Focusing on more modern artists performing modern classical standards, Classical Hits is an interesting addition to the world of classical compilations. Featuring artists as diverse as Yo Yo Ma and Sarah Brightman, this pulls together several recognizable compositions onto one good collection. Of the modern songs found on the album, John Williams' "Duel of the Fates" and James Horner's "Rose" are probably the most recognizable. But many other modern composers, including Ennio Morricone and Andrew Lloyd Weber, find their way onto the album as well. Anyone interested in what is happening in commercial classical music will probably find this album a treat, and even fans of the individual songs found here will probably enjoy the other compositions as well.

A MUST for every music lover

I absolutely love this collection of music. There are no so-so songs, only beautiful music and summed up with Pavarotti's "Nessun dorma!" Could you ask for more? Turn on this disc, sit back and relax.

    Great variety!

Our whole family really enjoys this CD and it is a frequent request on trips (even from the teenagers). A great variety of inspiring music.

    All-Star Classical Lineup

I listened to this album in the store and was blown away. So many incredible artists performing incredible songs in one album! The Gladiator theme song was the icing on the cake for me. What a beautiful and inspiring song. I couldn't have asked for a better compilation of hits.
